Friday, April 28See that little do-hickey (hmm, there’s an interesting word!) up there under my steamy banner? Type your email addy in there. You know you wanna! Seriously, though. Wait. Me? Serious? Well...sometimes. I find that I’ve been too serious on my blog and it stinks. {waves hand over nose.} I’ve never used a blog before, and after visiting so many other blogs, I’ve decided to be myself. After all, it is my blog! I’ll quip if I want to! And they’re saucy quips! I like being saucy! {Hear the sizzling bubbles? See the electricity in my words? Notice how...Eh, bored with it now.} Anyway... Tuesday, April 25Well, due to the urging from Faith, FB's managing editor, I'm going to talk a little bit about my new novella, the first accepted manuscript for FB's Goddess Freya Series. HONEYSUCKLE AND WILD ROSES is in the second draft phase. I'm thinking it might be 18K to 20K when finished. The Goddess Freya Series deals with stories that are historically accurate if set during Freya's time, and if the plot is based on just the goddess, but in a contemporary setting, the facts about Freya must be accurate. Legends, lore, etc must be accurate. From what I understand, a writer doesn't have to steep the stories in such details, but depending on the setting and time, things must be right so that they're realistic and believable. This time around, I need to do a bit of research on Nordic style clothing, sprinkling those details throughout my prose. Plus, I'm developing Freya's role a bit more than I had it in the first rough draft. What's my novella about? Oy, I haven't even written a summary yet. Let's leave that for another post, shall we? LOL. Duke of Earle, I found your comments on my last post about FREE SPIRITS. I am so touched, so THRILLED that you enjoyed my novella so much. You have no idea how much that means to me, and in leaving your comment for others to read, I had someone else say that it made them want to buy it too. Thank you so very, very much for taking a chance and buying my e-book and for posting an honest--albiet fantastic--mini review! I have to say that Freya's Bower is an incredible e-publisher. Really, I'm serious. Yeah, this is a bit of a plug for FB since I'm one of their authors, but I've been selling short romantic fiction for years, and the FB editors are the first editors I've encountered who are more like friends than stuffy business people. They take the time to answer questions, they talk to you like you're an old friend, and they are very meticulous when it comes to editing, suggesting ideas, and helping a writer find his or her way to the right path regarding their work. And let's face it, although the old adage never judge a book by its cover is known the world over, Paul Ellis, FB's cover artist, does the most amazing cover art. Absolutely incredible stuff, imho. I was so stoked over the cover for FREE SPIRITS (see earlier posts), but I'm just as thrilled with the one for HONEYSUCKLE. And what amazes me is how he manages to convey my style, genre, and the theme of the book all in one. So, if anyone likes to write stuff based on legends, lore and history, contact Faith at her Lion blog, but leave her a way to contact you. (I don't post email addys on my blog.) Or you could leave a message at WCP/FB's newsblog and I'm sure Faith or Ms. Baun will reply. Thanks to all my new blogger friends for buying my e-book and leaving me such nice comments. You all rock! Friday, April 21I haven't been blogging a lot because I've been really busy with several things. First, Freya's Bower is launching a new line of books for their Goddess Freya Series. However, it's not an open submissions line. Ms. Baun and Ms. Bicknell-Brown are contacting various writers/authors who write and dabble in history, legends and lore. If you're such a writer, drop one of them a line and tell them that you found out about the series through Zinnia Hope's blog. They want historically accurate material. Secondly, my novella, HONEYSUCKLE AND WILD ROSES will be the first e-book in the Goddess Freya Series!!! I'm so excited! This is my second big publication in the first half of 2006. Yippie!!!I'll tell you more about it as I finish this last draft. An official release date hasn't been set yet, but I think I might be able to have the manuscript polished by the end of May at the latest. Providing nothing pops up that throws a wrench into my usual daily routine, lol. Also, if you're new to my blog, please check out a couple of my past posts. My recently released novella, FREE SPIRITS, is available at http://www.freyasbower.com/ and from what I'm hearing from various readers, it's getting rave reviews. You can find WCP's official review of this novella HERE. Also, I want to apologize to anyone who was on my blogroll. I had some trouble with the comments feature on my blog--no clue why--and trying to fix it, I lost my blogroll as well. {{sigh}} Rest assured that I will put everyone who was previously on it back on the list, plus a few new ones once I have a few minutes of free tinkering time. Btw, I've been finding my blog on the list of others and wanted to say THANK YOU! Sunday, April 16UPDATE: I've sold three copies since Sunday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOL! Yippie!!!!!! You can buy FREE SPIRITS, my erotic fantasy novella HERE. I'm so happy! It's finally real! I'm an author! Woot! Here's the blurb, and there's an excerpt available too if you follow the link. At the age of eighteen, Beth wants nothing more than to lie in Randy’s arms at night. However, when a black panther shows up at her back door, little does Beth know that he’s warning her of something dire. Time passes, and when Beth’s marriage with Randy falls apart, she returns to the Appalachian foothills with her son. Again, her ebony friend appears, but this time the panther reveals the secret to his presence. Over the years, memories of a warrior lover and a village long forgotten torment Beth’s mind...and her heart. She feels the warrior’s kisses, his caresses, the sensation of his muscled body pressed closely to hers. Could this lover be more than a vision? Or is he only a dream... Now I'm going to worry that it won't sell. I know, I know. Confidence Zinnia! Promote, tell people about it, confidence, LOL! Friday, April 14FREE SPIRITS will be available any hour now!!! Yippie! Hurray! LOL, what can I say? I'm excited. I've even had a few readers of my blog insist that I let them know when and where they can buy my novella! That makes me feel so good! I've had my romance stories published in various mags and ezines, but FREE SPIRITS is my first published erotic novella. What genre is it? Contemporary fantasy. I'll let you all know as soon as it's on sale! Saturday, April 8Do you know what I think is the hardest part of writing? It's not the novel. It's not developing the characters. It's trying to condense my novella into a short summary for a book blurb! Argh! This task is driving me crazy! I'm trying to design a webpage too. Luckily, I have a good editor who knows people who don't mind helping me out with a few cool graphics. Saturday, April 1Hello! My name is Zinnia Hope. I'm one of the new authors at Freya's Bower. The two main editors at FB suggested that I start an author blog, so here I am. I have to admit, there are many, many e-book authors here at Blogger! I also had a fellow FB author confirm this suggestion. My novel, FREE SPIRITS, will be released sometime towards the end of April. I've been writing romantic short stories for years, and have several professional sales, but this is my first e-book. I'm very pleased with the cover. Isn't it gorgeous? If you're a writer of erotica or erotic romances, I highly recommend submitting to Freya's Bower. Faith Bicknell-Brown, FB's managing editor, gave me some great plot and character development tips for FREE SPIRITS. Now I'm waiting on one of the associate editors to get back to me on the final edit. So stop by FB and check it out. It's a beautiful e-publishing site. I'm new to this html stuff, and I'm not so sure I like the black background, so if you come back (I hope you do) you might find a white background instead. I also want to thank Mr. Paul Ellis, the FB e-book cover artist for creating my blog banner.Ugh, now I have to figure out how to build a readership. Any tips out there?
